About the position

The Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing quality patient care, and may require flexibility in hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures.
  • May perform patient reception, phlebotomy/specimen collection duties, rooming patients, and taking vital signs depending on clinic assignment.
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available to the radiologist and provider.
  • Prepares and positions patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Immobilizes patient as required for examination.
  • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patient during procedures.
  • Initiates basic life support when necessary.
  • Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.
  • Provides practical instruction for radiography students and other partners.
  • Observes universal protocol, standard precautions, and appropriate patient identifiers.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT Radiography registration required.
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois.
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
