About the position

The Radiologic Technologist operates x-ray machines and processes images while preparing patient rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications. This role involves performing tests on patients of all ages, assisting with patient histories, and ensuring a compassionate and respectful approach to care that aligns with the organization's core values.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the x-ray machine and process images.
  • Prepare patient rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications.
  • Perform radiographic and laboratory services/functions for Urgent Care.
  • Prepare patients for x-ray by explaining procedures and assisting them onto the table.
  • Position patients correctly for x-ray procedures and assist them at the end of the procedures.
  • Follow prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays.
  • Adjust equipment and determine proper exposure techniques and desired exposure time.
  • Arrange immobilization and support devices to obtain proper patient positioning.
  • Adjust lead shields and select proper film for x-ray procedures.
  • Perform CLIA waived tests and quality assurance/controls such as urinalysis and pregnancy tests.
  • Prepare specimens for courier and assist patients to exam rooms.
  • Take medical histories and vital signs, and assist with medical supply inventories.
  • Clean treatment rooms between patients and at the end of the day, ensuring proper cleaning and storage of equipment.
  • Dispose of toxic waste in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Assist with patient registration and triage of HUC patients as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Radiologic Technologist in good standing with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Must hold a current license with the State of Indiana as a Diagnostic x-ray machine operator.
  • Prefer two (2) years clinical experience in a hospital radiology department.
  • Must be CPR certified within 6 months of hire date.
  • One to two years experience in hospital radiology department.
