About the position
The Radiologic Technologist operates x-ray machines and processes images while preparing patient rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications. This role involves performing tests on patients of all ages, assisting with patient histories, and ensuring a compassionate and respectful approach to care that aligns with the organization's core values.
Responsibilities
- Operate the x-ray machine and process images.
- Prepare patient rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications.
- Perform radiographic and laboratory services/functions for Urgent Care.
- Prepare patients for x-ray by explaining procedures and assisting them onto the table.
- Position patients correctly for x-ray procedures and assist them at the end of the procedures.
- Follow prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays.
- Adjust equipment and determine proper exposure techniques and desired exposure time.
- Arrange immobilization and support devices to obtain proper patient positioning.
- Adjust lead shields and select proper film for x-ray procedures.
- Perform CLIA waived tests and quality assurance/controls such as urinalysis and pregnancy tests.
- Prepare specimens for courier and assist patients to exam rooms.
- Take medical histories and vital signs, and assist with medical supply inventories.
- Clean treatment rooms between patients and at the end of the day, ensuring proper cleaning and storage of equipment.
- Dispose of toxic waste in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Assist with patient registration and triage of HUC patients as needed.
Requirements
- Must be a Registered Radiologic Technologist in good standing with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
- Must hold a current license with the State of Indiana as a Diagnostic x-ray machine operator.
- Prefer two (2) years clinical experience in a hospital radiology department.
- Must be CPR certified within 6 months of hire date.
- One to two years experience in hospital radiology department.
