About the position

The Radiologic Tech I position at Houston Methodist is responsible for performing a variety of routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including X-ray and Fluoroscopy, while providing direct assistance to physicians. This role emphasizes exceptional patient care, adherence to radiation safety standards, and collaboration within the patient care team to ensure optimal outcomes and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiology procedures including X-Ray and Fluoroscopy exams.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic or special procedures, ensuring sterile techniques are followed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and family members, providing clear explanations and instructions.
  • Assess and respond to patient needs to optimize care and image quality.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and radiation safety protocols.
  • Conduct daily imaging equipment quality control and report malfunctions.
  • Document patient procedures accurately and enter charges at the time of service.
  • Participate in department projects and continuing education for professional growth.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for required certifications.
  • ARRT-R - Radiologic Technologist - Radiographer certification required.
  • CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate multiple computer systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in customer service and positive language principles.
