About the position

The Radiologic Technologist I position at Houston Methodist is responsible for performing routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including X-ray and Fluoroscopy, while ensuring exceptional patient care and adherence to safety standards. This role involves direct assistance to physicians during procedures and requires effective communication with patients and the healthcare team to optimize patient experience and care quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiology procedures including X-Ray exams and Fluoroscopy procedures.
• Assist physicians during diagnostic or special procedures, ensuring sterile techniques are followed.
• Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members regarding procedures.
• Assess and respond to patient needs to optimize care and image quality.
• Follow safety standards and conduct imaging procedures in compliance with radiation safety guidelines.
• Report near misses and input errors into the patient safety reporting system.
• Perform daily imaging equipment quality control to ensure safe working order.
• Participate in department projects and continuing education for professional growth.

Requirements

• Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for required certifications.
• ARRT-R - Radiologic Technologist - Radiographer certification required.
• CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure required (or must obtain within 90 days if a new graduate).
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
• Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to perform assigned job safely.
