About the position

The Radiology Engineer / Biomedical Engineering position at Hartford HealthCare involves supporting the medical imaging needs of the healthcare system by overseeing the service and maintenance of diagnostic imaging systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medical equipment used in patient care, as well as providing education and training to staff on equipment usage. The position requires collaboration with various departments to maintain high standards of patient safety and equipment management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the medical imaging needs of the HHC System by performing and overseeing the equipment service and maintenance of diagnostic imaging systems.
  • Responsible for the education and training for both technical and professional staff on equipment use and features.
  • Provide primary and '1st Pass' service to medical imaging technology including ultrasound, CT, radiology, nuclear medicine, digital radiography, and mammography.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for capturing relevant equipment and productivity data through departmental and hospital systems.
  • Investigate medical device-related incidents to determine causes and propose/implement preventative measures.
  • Develop policies to meet all medical equipment regulations such as the Safe Medical Device Act.
  • Coordinate medical device-related recalls and alerts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years medical imaging service experience in multiple modalities (i.e., Computerized Tomography, Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound, Digital Radiography, Nuclear Medicine).
  • Associates degree required with certification in discipline; BS degree preferred. Military Training in Biomedical or Diagnostic Imaging may be substituted.
  • Demonstrate excellent managerial, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in promoting radiation safety and resolving exposure quality issues in Radiology.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
