About the position

At Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care through our healing ministry. As a Radiology Intern, you will work under the supervision of licensed professionals, including X-Ray Technologists, the X-Ray Supervisor, and Radiologists, to perform diagnostic radiology procedures. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct radiographic imaging procedures while ensuring optimal image quality. You will provide personalized care to patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics, recognizing their worth and dignity. This role is crucial in maintaining compliance with patient care quality standards and embodying Mercy's mission, vision, and values in every aspect of your work. In this position, you will be expected to manipulate X-ray equipment, including mobile units, and carry cassettes while selecting and adjusting exposure factors. You will evaluate radiographs and assist in lifting, moving, and transporting patients. The role requires continual standing and walking, as well as the ability to recognize emergency situations and adapt to a fast-paced daily workload. Effective communication is essential, as you will be interacting with patients and healthcare team members regularly. This internship is an excellent opportunity for those currently enrolled in a nationally accredited School of Radiologic Technology, providing hands-on experience in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiology procedures under supervision.
  • Ensure optimal image quality during radiographic imaging procedures.
  • Provide personalized care to patients of all age groups.
  • Maintain compliance with patient care quality standards.
  • Manipulate X-ray equipment and carry cassettes as needed.
  • Select and adjust exposure factors for imaging.
  • Evaluate radiographs for quality and accuracy.
  • Assist in lifting, moving, and transporting patients.
  • Recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in a nationally accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Physical capability to manipulate X-ray equipment and transport patients.
