About the position

The RO Systems Administrator at Kaiser Permanente is responsible for managing the operations of Radiation Oncology (RO) specific systems at the local facility. This role involves ensuring that the clinical needs of the RO departments are met through effective workflow and treatment processes. The administrator will evaluate, deploy, manage, and enhance clinical RO information systems, collaborating closely with clinical teams and the Chief Physicists. The position also includes training new RO Systems Administrators and providing competency assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operations of RO specific systems to meet clinical needs.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain RO clinical and QA systems, including ARIA, Eclipse, Brainlab, MIM, and Sun Nuclear products.
  • Develop data and system security protocols for RO systems to comply with KP and regulatory standards.
  • Assess, plan, and implement system changes for software and hardware upgrades.
  • Manage and maintain RO system interfaces, including troubleshooting DICOM and HL7 issues.
  • Responsible for system backups and archiving of local RO systems, including disaster recovery plans.
  • Train local physicians, technologists, and staff on RO systems implementations.
  • Participate in regional planning and operations support processes.
  • Provide project management, design, testing, and other technical functions as needed.
  • Perform local audits, gather statistics, and prepare reports for management and quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in implementation, troubleshooting, and conducting training of radiation oncology systems or informatics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Informatics Technology, or four (4) years of directly related experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong information technology and computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in developing technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding records retention and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Analytics skills with experience in SAS or equivalent tool and Tableau.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL.
  • Experience with API, C++, or other programming languages.
  • Experience in web management platforms or applications.
  • Certification through CompTIA or equivalent.
  • Certification through Microsoft, Citrix, or equivalent.
  • One (1) year healthcare experience preferred.
