The Radiology Patient Scheduler at Hoag Memorial Hospital is responsible for managing patient appointments and inquiries, ensuring a seamless scheduling process while maintaining a patient-centric approach. This role serves as the initial contact for patients and physicians, providing essential information regarding appointments, financial questions, and pre-registration processes. The scheduler must possess extensive knowledge of procedures, insurance verification, and financial requirements, while also delivering excellent customer service to enhance patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments for patients and physicians using the Unibased System.
• Verify insurance and precertification requirements for services.
• Educate patients about procedures and financial options.
• Handle 30+ transactions per day with minimal errors.
• Coordinate changes, cancellations, and preferred order of cases with relevant departments.
• Act as a liaison between patients and hospital regarding financial matters.
• Analyze patient feedback for process improvement.
• Maintain accurate patient data and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
• Assist in training and guiding less experienced staff.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in Access Department or Front Desk scheduling or customer service.
• Intermediate knowledge of Windows computers and data entry skills.
• Fluency in English with excellent communication skills.
• Basic arithmetic skills for cashiering functions.
• Understanding of medical terminology.

Nice-to-haves

• Background in billing, collections, insurance verification, coding, or appointment scheduling.
• College degree in a related field.
• Previous experience scheduling procedures within a medical setting.
