About the position

The Radiology Technologist PRN at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center is responsible for performing radiographic procedures with a focus on patient care and safety. This role requires the technologist to operate radiology equipment, explain procedures to patients, and ensure compliance with safety standards. The position emphasizes ethical practice and professional conduct while working under the direction of the Leader of Imaging Services.

Responsibilities

• Select and operate all radiology equipment as directed and provide protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
• Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
• Check patient's chart to confirm order and check arm bands to confirm identity.
• Move X-ray equipment into specified position and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.
• Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination.
• Operate mobile X-ray equipment in Operating Room, Emergency Room, or at patient's bedside.
• Clean all equipment before and after each patient use, ensuring portable equipment is cleaned upon entering and leaving patient area.
• Evaluate patient's condition and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
• Operate CR units in Radiology and transfer images to PACS, routing images and burning CDs as needed.
• Check supplies in radiology rooms and notify supervisor of any needed supplies.

Requirements

• Associates degree or better in Radiology or related field.
• BLS certification required.
• SC Rad Quality Standards Association certification.
