About the position

As a Radiology Technologist at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality imaging services to patients. This position involves performing radiographic imaging procedures, which includes positioning, moving, and assisting patients to ensure accurate and safe imaging results. You will also be responsible for performing clerical duties and basic patient care within your scope of practice, adhering to departmental standards and compliance regulations. Your work will contribute to the overall mission of AdventHealth, which is to extend the healing ministry of Christ by providing whole-person care that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients. In this role, you will be expected to perform all exams using established protocols and facility policies, ensuring proper identification of patients before conducting any imaging procedures. You will educate patients about the exams they are undergoing and screen them for any potential allergies to contrast materials. Operating various imaging equipment safely and effectively is a key responsibility, as is minimizing radiation exposure to patients, families, and co-workers. You will also maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all necessary supplies are stocked and readily available. Your duties will include completing required documentation to support the Radiologist, positioning patients and equipment, and selecting technical factors to produce high-quality radiographic images. Additionally, you will perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, managing patient records, and scheduling appointments. Direct patient care is also a part of your responsibilities, which includes monitoring patient conditions, ensuring their comfort and safety, and obtaining and documenting patient histories. You will be expected to perform radiology duties across various departments, including the operating room and fluoroscopy, and to take on other assigned tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to the Hospital Corporate compliance plan and regulations of local, state, and Federal agencies.
  • Educates patients concerning exams and properly screens for contrast allergies.
  • Operates imaging equipment safely and properly, minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment, ensuring proper stocking of supplies.
  • Completes required documentation for Radiologist support.
  • Positions patient and equipment, selecting technical factors for radiographic images.
  • Monitors patient condition and ensures comfort, safety, and privacy.
  • Performs radiology duties in all departments and environments, including OR and Fluoroscopy.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent two years of experience in a related field.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Science program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Completion of Radiologic Technology training and A.R.R.T. registration.
  • General Radiographer state license as required by state (KS LRT).
