About the position

The Rail and Transit Senior Project Manager will oversee the successful delivery of transit and rail engineering projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and according to specified requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of current engineering principles and practices relevant to various aspects affecting the organization. The Project Manager will manage the entire project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction and final delivery, acting as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
  • Coordinate efforts across teams to achieve project goals.
  • Conduct regular stakeholder meetings to provide project updates, address concerns, and facilitate decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure timely task completion.
  • Address any delays promptly to keep the project on track.
  • Manage project budgets by tracking expenditures and ensuring financial constraints are met.
  • Document and manage scope changes, ensuring proper authorization and clear communication.
  • Ensure all work adheres to safety and quality standards.
  • Comply with relevant regulatory requirements throughout the project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
  • Extensive knowledge of transit and rail project management.
  • Strong understanding of design and construction processes specific to the rail industry.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills to convey project goals, progress, and challenges to stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects within schedule and budget constraints.
  • Thorough understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and risk management practices.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) for effective planning, monitoring, and reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8+ years of prior experience.
  • Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues.
  • Master's Degree or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
  • Member of a professional practice organization, national board member or officer, or national technical or policy committee member.
