About the position

The Rail Engineering Manager/Client Account Manager at AECOM is responsible for providing engineering technical and management leadership within the rail engineering discipline. This role involves overseeing a team of project managers and engineers, managing major rail projects, and developing marketing strategies to attract new clients. The position requires strong client account management skills and the ability to mentor staff while fostering a culture aligned with AECOM's core values.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering technical and management leadership for a discipline or area of responsibility.
• Makes authoritative decisions and recommendations.
• Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior-level engineers and key engineering officials.
• Demonstrates creativity and mature engineering judgment in solving engineering problems.
• Builds and leads a rail engineering group of 3-5 project managers and engineers.
• Performs project management responsibilities on major rail projects and becomes a certified AECOM project manager within 6 months of hire date.
• Develops and executes a strong marketing plan targeting rail RFPs and sole sourced work from rail clients.
• Leads Client Account Planning for Class I Railroad clients and TxDOT Rail Division.
• Mentors staff to learn and grow in their roles.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 12+ years of relevant experience in rail design or equivalent experience/education.
• 4 years of leadership experience.
• Excellent client account management and project coordination skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent communication and writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

• PE License in Texas with additional licensure in multiple states or ability to obtain within a year of employment.
• Proven ability to collaborate with multi-discipline design teams.
