About the position

Airgas is looking for a Rail Supply Chain Analyst in LaPorte, Texas. The Rail Supply Chain Analyst has the responsibility of scheduling the loaded and empty Airgas Argon Railcar Fleet. The Analyst works closely with Distribution, Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure timely deliveries to select US and Canada destinations in the Argon Supply Chain. The role involves executing the Ortec Supply Chain Design plan on optimizing the rail car fleet, analyzing rail routes to improve transit/turn times, and making recommendations on utilizing rail vs. truck. The Analyst will also identify and track rail product losses, ensure accurate billing of rail shipments, and manage inventory levels at rail depots.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule the loaded and empty Airgas Argon Railcar Fleet.
  • Execute the Ortec Supply Chain Design plan on optimizing the rail car fleet.
  • Analyze all rail routes to improve transit/turn times with the RSI software program.
  • Work to improve rail detention time at rail depots and collaborate with railroads to identify and correct routing issues.
  • Make recommendations on utilizing rail vs. truck in conjunction with distribution, Supply Chain, and Logistics.
  • Support LAR Supply Chain Manager on continuous improvement projects.
  • Identify and track rail product losses and provide recommendations on reductions.
  • Ensure all rail shipments are accurately billed in ALTO on a monthly basis.
  • Compile and complete rail reports on a monthly basis.
  • Work closely with Railcar Fleet Maintenance team to diagnose and resolve issues with railcars.
  • Manage LAR inventory levels at all rail depots to ensure customer supply is met.
  • Collaborate with AMG Logistics and Air Liquide Large Industries team(s) to manage LAR truck deliveries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, logistics, operations management, mathematics or a related field required.
  • 2 years experience in rail transportation or logistics industry required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Google applications (Docs, Sheets and Slides).
  • Ability to operate custom supply chain software (ALTO, PI).
  • Ability to be on-call after normal working hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of Industrial Gas supply chain experience.
  • 2 years RSI software experience.
