About the position

The Ramp & Customer Service Agent plays a crucial role in ensuring that guests have a seamless travel experience from curb to cabin. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities both above and below the wing, which includes direct interactions with guests as well as essential ramp functions. Agents are expected to assist guests with their travel needs, which may involve answering inquiries, handling baggage, ticketing, checking in passengers, and boarding flights in a fast-paced airport environment. In addition to customer service duties, the role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions while performing below wing functions. This includes transporting baggage and cargo, loading and offloading luggage, aircraft marshaling, pushing back aircraft, and performing aircraft deicing. Agents are also responsible for aircraft grooming and conducting security searches. The position involves performing boarding and gate duties, which include assisting and directing guests, making announcements, processing standby requests, and managing upgrade requests. Agents must also process and secure guest luggage, maintaining accurate records of luggage claims for damaged, delayed, or pilfered items. The role may require flexibility, as agents may be assigned to perform various duties to ensure complete guest satisfaction. Responsibilities

  • Assist guests with travel needs, including answering inquiries, handling baggage, ticketing, checking-in passengers, and boarding flights in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions while performing below wing functions such as transporting baggage and cargo, loading and offloading luggage, aircraft marshaling, pushing back the aircraft, and aircraft deicing.
  • Perform aircraft grooming and security searches.
  • Assist and direct guests during boarding and gate duties, make announcements, and process standby and upgrade requests.
  • Process and secure guest luggage, maintaining luggage claims for damaged, delayed, and pilfered items.
  • Load and offload luggage and cargo using conveyor belts.
  • Perform various duties as assigned by management to ensure complete guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to learn and operate a computerized reservation system.
  • Typing speed of at least 25 WPM.
  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and grasp.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to participate in paid training that may require overnight travel.
  • Ability to obtain USPS Mail Handling Certification depending on work location.
  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
