About the position

The Ramp & Customer Service Agent at Horizon Air plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless travel experience for guests. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities both above and below wing, which include direct guest interactions and essential ramp functions. Agents are expected to assist guests with their travel needs, which involves answering inquiries, managing baggage, ticketing, checking in passengers, and boarding flights in a fast-paced airport environment. The role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions while performing tasks such as transporting baggage and cargo, loading and offloading luggage, aircraft marshaling, and pushing back aircraft. Additionally, agents are responsible for performing aircraft grooming and conducting security searches to ensure safety and compliance. In this role, agents will also handle boarding and gate duties, which include assisting and directing guests, making announcements, processing standby and upgrade requests, and securing guest luggage. They will file and maintain luggage claims for any damaged, delayed, or pilfered items. The position may require agents to perform a variety of tasks as directed by management to ensure complete guest satisfaction. The Ramp & Customer Service Agent must be adaptable and ready to take on different responsibilities as needed, contributing to a positive and efficient airport experience for all travelers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist guests with travel needs including inquiries, baggage handling, ticketing, checking-in passengers, and boarding flights.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions performing below wing functions such as transporting baggage and cargo, loading and offloading luggage, and aircraft marshaling.
  • Perform aircraft grooming and security searches to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Handle boarding and gate duties, assisting and directing guests, making announcements, and processing standby and upgrade requests.
  • Process and secure guest luggage, filing and maintaining luggage claims for damaged, delayed, or pilfered items.
  • Load and offload luggage and cargo using conveyor belts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to ensure complete guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to learn and operate a computerized reservation system.
  • Typing speed of at least 25 WPM.
  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and grasping.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to participate in paid training that may require overnight travel.
  • Ability to obtain USPS Mail Handling Certification and airport security clearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum age of 18.

Nice-to-haves
