About the position

The Ramp & Customer Service Agent at Horizon Air is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and performing various ramp functions at the airport. This role involves assisting guests with their travel needs, managing luggage, and ensuring a smooth boarding process while working in a fast-paced environment. The position requires flexibility to work in all weather conditions and includes both customer-facing and behind-the-scenes tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist guests with travel needs including inquiries, baggage handling, ticketing, and boarding flights.
  • Perform ramp functions such as transporting baggage and cargo, loading and offloading luggage, and aircraft marshaling.
  • Conduct aircraft grooming and security searches.
  • Manage boarding and gate duties, including assisting and directing guests and making announcements.
  • Process and secure guest luggage, including filing and maintaining luggage claims for damaged or delayed items.
  • Load and offload luggage and cargo using conveyor belts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure complete guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid unexpired driver's license issued by a US state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Ability to learn and operate a computerized reservation system.
  • Typing speed of at least 25 WPM.
  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, squat, reach, and grasp.
  • Basic mathematics skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to participate in paid training that may require overnight travel.
  • Ability to obtain USPS Mail Handling Certification depending on work location.
  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves
