About the position

The Ramp & Customer Service Agent at Horizon Air is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests while performing various ramp functions. This role involves assisting passengers with their travel needs, managing luggage, and ensuring a smooth boarding process in a fast-paced airport environment. The position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing physical tasks related to aircraft operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist guests with travel needs including inquiries, baggage handling, ticketing, and boarding flights.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions performing below wing functions such as transporting baggage and cargo, loading and offloading luggage, aircraft marshaling, and deicing.
  • Perform aircraft grooming and security searches.
  • Handle boarding and gate duties, including assisting and directing guests, making announcements, and processing standby and upgrade requests.
  • Process and secure guest luggage, maintaining luggage claims for damaged, delayed, or pilfered items.
  • Load and offload luggage and cargo using conveyor belts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure complete guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid unexpired driver's license issued by a US state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Ability to learn and operate a computerized reservation system.
  • Typing speed of at least 25 WPM.
  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and grasping.
  • Basic mathematics skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to participate in paid training that may require overnight travel.
  • Ability to obtain USPS Mail Handling Certification depending on work location.
  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • A minimum of 1 year of customer service or community service experience.
