As a Ramp Service Agent at American Airlines, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet services. This position involves the handling of items on and off aircraft, as well as the transportation of cargo between terminals and aircraft. You will be responsible for receiving, delivering, weighing, and documenting cargo in a dedicated cargo facility or loading dock area. The job requires a commitment to safety and adherence to government regulations, including those set by the DOT, FAA, and TSA. You will be expected to work outdoors in various weather conditions and may be required to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays. The starting pay for this position is $17.20 per hour, and the terms and conditions are governed by the Transport Workers Union (TWU) Collective Bargaining Agreement. In this role, you will be tasked with moving baggage and cargo of various weights to and from aircraft, driving and operating belt loaders, servicing aircraft at gates with ground power and air conditioning, and towing and pushing back aircraft from gates. You will also be responsible for servicing aircraft lavatories and water ports, cleaning the interior of aircraft when needed, and positioning beverage and luggage carts around the ramp area. Additionally, you may be involved in de-icing aircraft and performing catering services, depending on the airport size. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to lift and transport bags and cargo, and a valid driver's license. You will also need to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check, and obtain necessary security badges.
