About the position

Foster Farms is seeking a dedicated Ranch Laborer to join our team in Waterford & Turlock, CA. This full-time position offers a competitive pay rate of $17.00 per hour, with additional compensation for night shifts. The Ranch Laborer will play a crucial role in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the ranch, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities will include feeding the livestock, removing mortality, making necessary equipment adjustments, and maintaining sanitation standards across the ranch. The ideal candidate will assist with the grow-out program, ensuring that ranch setup, brooding, temperatures, ventilation, mortality, vaccination, and medication meet the highest standards of quality and productivity. In this role, you will also be responsible for coordinating feed deliveries, maintaining accurate inventories of feed and fuel, and ensuring that proper growing methods are followed. The Ranch Laborer will aid in maintaining facilities and equipment to ensure optimal usage and a good appearance. A strong emphasis will be placed on learning and assisting with sanitation conditions and disease protection procedures. Safety, animal welfare, and bio-security are paramount, and any issues must be reported directly to the Ranch Manager or Field Supervisor. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work with minimal supervision and is willing to learn and grow within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining day-to-day operations of the ranch and its fryers.
  • Feed livestock and remove mortality.
  • Make equipment adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain sanitation conditions and disease protection procedures.
  • Assist with the grow-out program, ensuring quality and productivity standards are met.
  • Coordinate feed deliveries and maintain accurate feed and fuel inventories.
  • Aid in maintaining facilities and equipment for optimal usage and appearance.
  • Report any problems directly to the Ranch Manager or Field Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good mathematical and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to lift and move 25 pounds.
  • Preferably possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Basic English.
  • Ability to learn supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime, evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to follow company standards, guidelines, and policies.
  • Ability to work at other ranches/complexes as needed.
