About the position

The Ransburg Center Greeter at the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is responsible for providing excellent member services under the supervision of the Member Services Supervisor. This part-time role involves greeting members, managing check-ins, and ensuring a welcoming environment while supporting the YMCA's mission of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Greet members by name with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Scan member's card and manage sign-ins when the computer is down.
  • Check for invalid or expired cards and direct members to the service center for renewal.
  • Wash, dry, and fold towels, maintaining cleanliness of the dryer lint screen.
  • Loan recreational equipment and ensure its return according to procedures.
  • Assist with incoming calls when lines ring more than three times.
  • Help with any medical emergencies and document as required by YMCA rules and regulations.
  • Maintain the Away and Regular Guest Book.
  • Assist members with lost and found items.
  • Keep the Hospitality Desk area neatly maintained.
  • Perform morning operator assignments including turning on lights and computers, and ensuring staff are on duty.
  • Perform evening operator assignments including turning off lights and shutting down computers.
  • Provide a safe environment for all participants, volunteers, and staff.
  • Actively participate in the Invest-in-Youth annual campaign.
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings associated with the Membership Department.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Basic computer data entry skills required.
  • Basic washer and dryer operations knowledge required.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to answer telephone calls and communicate YMCA programs and activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR AED, Safety and Risk Management, and Child Abuse Prevention, or the ability to obtain them within 60-90 days of employment.
