About the position

The Rapid Response Sr. Network Engineer is a critical role within Red River Technology LLC, focusing on the swift and effective resolution of network-related incidents in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This position requires a deep understanding of network systems, including virtualization technologies and multi-tenant architectures. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring network integrity and performance through rapid incident response, troubleshooting, and the implementation of advanced network solutions. The role demands a proactive approach to network management, including monitoring performance, managing resource utilization, and engaging in capacity planning to meet the dynamic needs of the DoD environment. In this position, the engineer will design, architect, and install routed and switched networks, employing cutting-edge design principles and protocols to develop innovative solutions. The engineer will also leverage network virtualization technologies to optimize efficiency and support scalable operations. A significant aspect of the role involves constructing and overseeing multi-tenant network architectures, ensuring secure and effective functionality for diverse user groups. The engineer will handle a variety of network routing and switching equipment from multiple vendors, maintaining proficiency in these technologies and writing scripts to automate network management processes. The work environment is primarily on-site at the Pentagon Reservation, where the engineer will operate within secure facilities and adhere to strict security protocols. While remote work opportunities may be available, they are not guaranteed and will depend on the specific requirements of the role and managerial discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly respond to network incidents, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions within routers and switches to ensure network integrity and performance.
  • Design, architect, and install advanced routed and switched networks tailored to meet the dynamic needs of the DoD environment.
  • Monitor network performance, manage resource utilization, and engage in proactive trending and capacity planning.
  • Employ cutting-edge network design principles and protocols to develop innovative network solutions.
  • Leverage network virtualization technologies to optimize network efficiency and support scalable operations.
  • Construct and oversee multi-tenant network architectures, ensuring secure and effective functionality for diverse user groups.
  • Expertly handle a variety of network routing and switching equipment from multiple vendors, maintaining proficiency in these technologies.
  • Write scripts and employ coding techniques to automate network threshold events and streamline network management processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or an equivalent field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a primary role operating, troubleshooting, and installing network routers and switches.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a primary role designing and architecting routed and switched networks.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a DoD environment.
  • At least one nationally recognized certification for senior network administrators/engineers/architects.
  • Compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III as per DoD 8570.01-M.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with contemporary and emerging network design principles and protocols.
