About the position

The RASC Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing a team within the Regional Accounting Service Center (RASC). The role focuses on ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient accounting practices in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. The manager will lead the team in achieving operational excellence while embodying the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team responsible for accounting functions within the RASC.
  • Achieve accurate and timely accounting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Determine best practices for consolidation of accounting functions.
  • Manage headcount and wage dollars against budget.
  • Implement new or revised accounting policies and procedures for improvements.
  • Lead and advise the team on handling exceptions effectively.
  • Assist corporate and divisions in evaluating financial results and problem-solving.
  • Review and guide projects related to the work area.
  • Manage department overtime and recommend associates for promotion or transfer.
  • Assist in formulating formal audit responses and perform account balance detail on a periodic basis.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and efficient customer service.
  • Interview and hire qualified Administrative Support Personnel.
  • Develop training schedules to ensure associates are knowledgeable in their roles.
  • Foster a fair and trusting environment for all associates.
  • Maintain confidentiality of conversations and documents.
  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles to reduce tension or conflicts.
  • Travel independently to other divisions for training and meetings.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports, completing performance reviews and providing feedback.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent facilitation skills and sound business judgment.
  • Ability to work successfully with all associates and create an open communication environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and deal with ambiguity.
  • Strong knowledge of company policies and procedures related to accounting controls.
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task.
  • Master's Degree in accounting, finance, or business (desired).
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or business (desired).
  • Experience with the Oracle Accounting system (desired).
  • Experience in an accounting center or shared service center role (desired).
  • Experience with corporate accounting, division accounting, or auditing (desired).
  • 5 years of experience in an advanced accounting or finance role within Kroger (desired).
  • CPA Certified Public Accountant (desired).
  • Understanding of Kroger Accounting systems (desired).
