About the position

The Raw Material Auditor at Sysco is responsible for implementing and evaluating the Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) raw material audit program. This role involves inspecting raw materials to ensure compliance with specifications, managing claims with suppliers, and assisting in employee training related to FSQA programs. The auditor will work closely with various departments and interact with suppliers and customers to maintain quality standards in the meat and seafood processing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Physically and visually assess quality attributes of raw materials against specifications.
  • Utilize email and electronic systems to submit claims to suppliers for non-compliant products.
  • Follow up with suppliers on claims and ensure they are paid.
  • Assist in training employees on FSQA programs and policies regarding raw material auditing.
  • Provide assistance for FSQA Technician activities, including monitoring and evaluations.
  • Assist in emergency situations as determined by plant management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, with some post-high school education preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in the meat and/or seafood industry at a federal processing plant.
  • Knowledge of meat, poultry, and seafood products and their specifications.
  • Experience as a Quality Assurance or Quality Control Technician is desirable.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence in English.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations.
