About the position

The Server at Baymont by Wyndham/Penny's Diner is responsible for providing excellent customer service by taking food and drink orders, serving meals, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience for guests. This role involves various tasks such as preparing checks, accepting payments, and maintaining cleanliness in the dining area. The Server must comply with state regulations regarding alcohol service and food handling, and is expected to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Take customer food and drink orders and serve food and beverages.
• Prepare itemized checks and accept payments.
• Escort guests to tables and serve customers seated at counters.
• Set up and clear tables, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
• Operate a cash register and perform cashiering functions.
• Check identification of patrons to ensure they meet the minimum age requirement for alcohol purchase.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming according to brand standards.
• Comply with all safety and operational standards set by the company.
• Attend meetings as required by management.
• Perform any other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Alcohol Awareness Certification compliant with state regulations.
• Food Handlers certification compliant with state regulations.
• Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
• Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
• Effective listening and understanding skills to clarify concerns raised by coworkers and guests.
• Ability to work with financial information and perform basic arithmetic functions.
• Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
