About the position

GDIT is seeking an RCDD Engineer to join our Joint Service Provider Enterprise Transport Management - Next-Gen (JSP ETM - NG) program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. Due to the nature of work this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed and will require the employee to report full-time onsite. The RCDD Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the Inside Plant cable infrastructure to include conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber and all associated elements in the Pentagon, Mark Center, & buildings within the NCR supported by JSP. The role includes following JSP and commercial best practice procedures, standards and/or providing Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) required for installation of cable racks, wiring of the racks and testing required during installation. O&M support will include an ISP Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDD) to support the maintenance and clean-up of 1800 or more Telecommunication rooms at the Pentagon, Mark Center and NCR, and outlying buildings under JSP Operations purview, including on-site surveys, weekly reports denoting survey results, developing maintenance plans for corrections, and ensuring the EIA/TIA 568A & 568B Standard and standards are upheld. The engineer will also be responsible for performing 24/7/365 breakfix on all Inside Plant cable infrastructure under JSP purview. Strong knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems from an installation and basic design perspective is required, along with the ability to communicate effectively to personnel of various expertise levels, solid customer support skills in a high visibility environment, problem analysis and problem solving skills, and attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Inside Plant cable infrastructure including conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber and associated elements.
  • Follow JSP and commercial best practice procedures and provide Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs).
  • Provide O&M support for maintenance and clean-up of Telecommunication rooms.
  • Conduct on-site surveys and develop maintenance plans for corrections.
  • Ensure compliance with EIA/TIA 568A & 568B Standards.
  • Perform 24/7/365 breakfix on Inside Plant cable infrastructure.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
  • High School Diploma.
  • 9+ years of experience developing layout and design for technology systems including voice, data, and structured cabling.
  • Knowledge of BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, and other applicable codes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Visio for producing cutsheets and floorplans.
