About the position

The R&D Data Management and Governance Leader at Takeda is responsible for leading the implementation and management of a comprehensive data governance strategy. This role focuses on transforming raw data into actionable insights to support informed decision-making and optimize performance in alignment with regulatory requirements. The leader will oversee complex data projects, ensuring compliance and quality in data management processes, while also driving innovation and organizational change.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the R&D data program, ensuring integrated data flows and end-to-end data management control mechanisms.
  • Develop complex data structures to support business-critical analytics and reporting needs.
  • Advise on data flow optimization, including data capture and integration.
  • Maintain GxP standards according to Takeda's SDLC policies and QMS.
  • Develop and embed data profiling and quality methodologies into data transformation processes.
  • Manage data pipeline and analysis approaches using various technologies.
  • Facilitate analytical assessments to translate business needs into analytical opportunities.
  • Lead the development of technical roadmaps for data analyses and model design.
  • Maintain documentation on data definitions, standards, and flows for stakeholders.
  • Provide input on complex decisions impacting data products.
  • Seek input from stakeholders to lead innovative solutions and implement feedback swiftly.
  • Drive new ways of thinking and lead organizational change.
  • Identify opportunities and anticipate changes in the business landscape.
  • Develop solutions to complex issues influencing the R&D Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 7 years of experience, including 3+ years in a data engineering role in an enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge of product management in the pharmaceutical industry with over 5 years of experience.
  • Experience in building and supporting scalable analytical data models for over 5 years.
  • Familiarity with Agile Software Development methodologies is ideal.
  • Experience with pharma processes and R&D data management practices.
  • Data modeling experience and building data schema with standard tools.
  • Knowledge of data architecture and modeling is required.
  • Experience with SDLC and pharma R&D platform development processes.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT design and implementations for complex datasets.
  • Demonstrated experience with relational databases and data warehousing technologies such as AWS Redshift and BigQuery.
  • Experience with big data processing systems and distributed computing technologies.
  • Experience with DevOps orchestration tools such as Github and Terraform.
  • Experience developing solutions on cloud computing services in the data and analytics space.
