About the position

White Hawk Engineering and Design, a Texas-based civil engineering firm with headquarters in Norman, OK, is seeking to fill the position of Roadway/Structural Engineer 1 at its Allen, TX office. This role involves a combination of roadway and structural engineering design, requiring the preparation of schematics, plans, and PS&E (Plans, Specifications, and Estimates) packages. The successful candidate will also be responsible for performing field surveys of utilities and conducting bridge inspections. In addition to technical responsibilities, the position includes client interaction, marketing efforts, and the preparation of business proposals, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. The position may require some overnight travel within Texas and Oklahoma, as the firm engages in projects across these regions. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic work environment that involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including clients and team members. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in civil engineering principles, particularly in transportation engineering design, and will be expected to contribute to the firm's ongoing projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform roadway and structural engineering design.
  • Prepare schematics, plans, and PS&E packages.
  • Conduct utilities' field surveys and bridge inspections.
  • Engage in client interaction and marketing efforts.
  • Prepare business proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and 4 years of work experience with transportation engineering design, or a Master's degree in Civil Engineering and 1 year of engineering design experience.
  • Work experience must include roadway design.
  • Texas Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or at least 6 months of work experience with both bridge inspection and land surveying.
  • Knowledge of Microstation and GeoPak or transportation AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and OpenRoads engineering software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certification in relevant engineering fields.
  • Completion of 3 hours of coursework related to roadway or structural engineering.
