About the position

The Re-Entry Program Career Coach at Abe Brown Ministries is responsible for managing the client placement process for individuals with a lived incarceration experience. This role involves providing support in professional development, job placement, and long-term workplace success strategies, ensuring clients are prepared for employment opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients during Professional Development classes to assess job skills and prepare forecast reports for job matching.
  • Assist Professional Development Instructor in ensuring clients complete core deliverables such as the Wonderlic Test, Resume, State of Florida Application, and Mock Interview.
  • Conduct evaluations on each client, documenting strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Review case notes in ETO to coach clients on individualized employment plans and job markets.
  • Plan and facilitate Employability Workshops covering relevant workplace topics.
  • Administer pre-interview drug screens and transport clients to interviews when necessary.
  • Debrief clients after interviews and ensure follow-up correspondence is sent.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to assist with job-related issues and document interactions in ETO.
  • Coordinate vocational training activities with community partners.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with the Business Development Manager to discuss client readiness and employment opportunities.
  • Develop community partnerships to educate employers on the value of hiring ex-offenders.
  • Prepare professional reports and ensure all data and documents are accurate and timely.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.
  • Career Coach Certification is a plus, with a requirement to obtain certification while employed.
  • At least two years of human services experience.
  • Proven track record in business-to-business sales.
  • Experience working with underserved populations and persons in crisis.
  • Strong documentation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse families and communities.
  • Ability to motivate others towards achieving goals.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous employment or job coaching experience in a non-profit setting.
