About the position

The Material Handler III position at APL Logistics involves providing warehouse services through the safe and efficient handling of customer products and materials using specialized equipment such as reach trucks. The role encompasses various tasks including loading, unloading, staging, and storage of products, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Load picked orders according to policies and procedures, completing appropriate paperwork including Bill of Lading and Pick Report.
• Unload, move, stack, and stage customer products and materials using forklift or other power equipment.
• Accurately locate and load customer products onto/from pallets and shelves according to established procedures.
• Operate special equipment such as turret clamps and slip sheet equipment as necessary.
• Count, weigh, and record the number of units of materials handled on a daily production sheet.
• Complete specialized order processing for loading, including stenciling and labeling as required.
• Assign and verify trailers to appropriate dock locations, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Inspect and repair tow-motor vehicles before operation, reporting any defects to the supervisor.
• Prepare trailers for loading by inspecting and cleaning as needed.
• Assist in building and grounds maintenance to ensure a clean and orderly facility.
• Complete activity and statistical reports as assigned by the supervisor.
• Assist in physical inventories and ensure facility security.
• Provide additional services such as sanitation activities and assembling crates.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of forklift/tow motor experience required, including forklift certification preferred.
• Knowledge of inventory control and general warehouse procedures.
• Light data entry skills required.
• Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and safety rules.
• Ability to operate various types of forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Basic math skills and attention to detail required.
• Ability to communicate professionally and positively.

Nice-to-haves

• 1-2 years of warehouse or related work experience preferred.
• RF experience preferred.
