About the position

The Frontend React Developer will be a key member of the Digital Commerce team at Bass Pro Shops, responsible for developing and supporting eCommerce capabilities across multiple brand websites. This role involves requirement gathering, developing and testing website enhancements, troubleshooting application issues, and ensuring adherence to code management practices within an agile framework. The developer will collaborate with both onshore and offshore team members to deliver effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support eCommerce capabilities on multiple brand websites.
  • Gather requirements and develop website-related enhancements.
  • Test applications and troubleshoot issues within the application.
  • Support end-to-end application testing and understand integrations with upstream/downstream systems.
  • Adhere to code management activities within an agile framework.
  • Collaborate with on/offshore development team members to deliver solutions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in web development.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with React or other JavaScript-based technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of web technologies, including HTML, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Ability to integrate 3rd party APIs and strong understanding of REST and other API patterns.
  • Experience with NodeJS, ReactJS, Angular, Bootstrap, and Typescript.
  • Knowledge of state management libraries like Redux, React-Context, or Recoil.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript ES6 features such as classes, arrow functions, and promises.
  • Experience building responsive layouts using CSS and its compiler workflows (e.g., LESS, SASS/SCSS).
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, object-oriented design, and data structures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a retail eCommerce environment.
  • Familiarity with front-end build tools such as Webpack, Grunt, and Gulp.js.
  • Good understanding of asynchronous, closure, and event-driven programming.
  • Understanding of web accessibility principles and testing.
  • Experience building highly composable, reusable components.
  • Ability to translate design mockups into working application designs.
