About the position

The React Developer position is a full-time role that offers a hybrid working schedule, allowing for flexibility between the Moline, IL, and Chicago, IL offices. The team is currently operating under a model that requires employees to be in the office two days a week, promoting collaboration while also accommodating remote work preferences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing applications using the React framework, particularly with version 16 and above, and will be expected to utilize hooks effectively in their development process. In this role, the React Developer will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the development, coding, configuration, and testing of programs and systems. The candidate will evaluate and implement design solutions aimed at enhancing the cost, quality, and performance of software applications. A critical part of the job will involve analyzing assignments to determine the necessary software specifications required to meet project objectives. The developer will also be responsible for executing documentation as needed and collaborating with stakeholders and team members to ensure that the features developed align with business needs. The position requires adherence to industry-standard agile software design methodologies for both development and documentation processes. Additionally, the React Developer will have the opportunity to mentor junior software engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment within the team. This role is situated within the Scout department, which emphasizes innovation and quality in software development.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, codes, configures, and tests programs and systems
  • Evaluates and implements enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
  • Analyzes assignments and determines software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives
  • Executes necessary documentation, as directed, or needed
  • Collaborates with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs
  • Follows industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation
  • Mentors junior software engineers on the team

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in React framework (Version 16+) using hooks
  • 3 years of experience with Typescript
  • 5 years of experience with GraphQL - not required, but highly preferred
  • Experience with Jest
  • TDD - highly preferred
