About the position

The React Native CTV Developer role at FOX Television Stations (FTS) is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative Connected TV applications aimed at enhancing local news experiences for a dedicated audience. As a key member of a newly formed team of developers, you will be responsible for the development of new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and code deployment. This position requires a strong commitment to engineering excellence, where you will apply your coding skills to deliver compelling and innovative local news experiences. You will collaborate closely with product managers and engineering leadership to scope, design, develop, test, and roll out exceptional customer experiences. In this fast-paced product development environment, you will strive to write secure, scalable, and maintainable code, adhering to object-oriented design principles and industry best practices. Your role will involve delivering engineering excellence through Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and coding standards. You will assist the Quality Assurance (QA) team in maintaining stable releases through both automated and manual testing, prototype solutions to confirm approaches, and debug app defects and in-field crash reports. Additionally, you will document your analyses, approaches, and solution designs, while applying your experience to improve team processes, tools, and development culture. Timeliness and quality of deliverables are paramount, and you will be expected to take imprecise requirements and derive detailed solutions. A solid understanding of web-service and data-driven architecture is also essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Work with product managers and engineering leadership to scope, design, develop, test, and roll out amazing customer experiences
• Strive to write secure, scalable, and maintainable code using object-oriented design principles and industry best practices
• Work in a fast-paced product development environment, under agile project management methodologies
• Deliver engineering excellence with industry best practices (Agile, DevOps, coding standards, design patterns, test automation, etc.)
• Assist QA in maintaining stable releases with automated and manual tests
• Prototype to confirm solution approach
• Debug app defects and in-field crash reports
• Document analyses, approaches, and solution designs
• Apply your experience and insight to improve team processes, tools and development culture
• Ensure timeliness and quality of your deliverables
• Take imprecise requirements and derive details for a complete solution
• In-depth working knowledge of web-service and data-driven architecture
• Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.

Requirements

• Expertise in React principles such as virtual DOM, component lifecycle, component state, hooks, and props
• Proficiency in React Native tools and technologies such as Visual Studio Code, Jest, ESLint, and others
• Solid working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and JSON
• Current relevant experience developing for SmartTV, set-top, or OTT platforms
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience developing relevant CTV web applications
• Comfortable with developer tools including Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Charles Proxy
• Demonstrable problem-solving skills
• Clear and thoughtful communication
• Thrive on collaboration
