About the position

As a Software Engineer specializing in mobile development, you will be part of the Reality Labs Research (RL-R) team, which is dedicated to advancing augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies. The focus of this role is on the Aria Companion App, where you will work on innovative projects that aim to enhance machine perception and user interaction with future AR devices. Your primary responsibility will be to architect and develop the next-generation research device for Project Aria, which seeks to understand the world from a human perspective and lay the groundwork for AI and AR experiences on future AR glasses. In this position, you will prototype and build interactive experiences that connect the glasses with the mobile app, ensuring a seamless human-in-the-loop experience during data collection. You will also be tasked with developing functionality that supports all-day data collection using a combination of next-generation glasses and wristbands. Additionally, you will assist the app team in maintaining and enhancing user engagement with the existing companion app and its features. Your role will involve full-stack mobile application development, utilizing a variety of programming languages such as JavaScript, PHP, Swift, Kotlin, Obj-C, and Java. Collaboration with cross-team leads and project managers will be essential as you define feature specifications and build advanced data-collection services, leveraging frameworks like React Native and GraphQL.
