About the position

The National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA) is seeking candidates aged 55 years and older for the position of Reader & Administrative Assistant with the U.S. EPA Senior Environmental Employment Program (SEE) and Office of Regional Counsel. This role is designed to provide support to a disabled attorney in daily legal activities, which includes reviewing text materials and conducting legal research. It is important to note that this position does not require providing physical or personal assistance to the attorney. The position offers a hybrid work schedule that includes both in-person and telework options, allowing for flexibility in the work environment. As a Reader & Administrative Assistant, the enrollee will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks that support all staff within the Office of Regional Counsel. This includes preparing travel requests, briefing materials, and formatting documents. The role is structured to ensure that the administrative needs of the office are met efficiently while also providing the necessary support for legal activities. The position is grant-funded and has a defined hourly rate, with the potential for annual review and renewal based on program needs. Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria, including being at least 55 years of age, a U.S. citizen, and eligible to work in the United States. Responsibilities

  • Reading, proofreading, and assisting with legal research.
  • Providing litigation support as needed.
  • Filing, maintaining files, copying, and mailing documents.
  • Taking notes (not stenographic) during meetings or discussions.
  • Scanning documents and writing materials into the computer.
  • Providing administrative support for all Office of Regional Counsel staff, including preparing travel requests, briefing materials, and formatting documents.

Requirements

  • Must be 55 years of age or older in accordance with Public Law 98-313 and the Older American Workers Act.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
