About the position

The Ready Mix Sales Representative at Knife River is responsible for maintaining relationships with current and potential customers, managing project specifications, and ensuring quality control in the sales process. This role involves market analysis, customer service, and collaboration with production teams to ensure customer satisfaction and adherence to safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular contact with current and potential customers.
  • Review plans and specifications prior to bidding, calculate and quote material prices to customers, complete project submittals and maintain project files.
  • Track and document market data relating to product and price.
  • Perform ongoing market analysis.
  • Entertain customers and resolve customer complaints, questions, and assist in collections.
  • Develop haul routes and evaluate job site access.
  • Troubleshoot production and quality deficiencies.
  • Develop a good working relationship with fellow team members, driver teams, and central dispatch team.
  • Be actively involved in trade and community associations.
  • Assure all safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Associates degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain Quality Control Technician (QCT) and Concrete Control Technician (CCT) certification.
  • Ability to establish rapport with a wide variety of personality types and accept rejection.
  • Ability to work safely in a busy construction environment.
  • Willingness to work odd hours and Saturdays if necessary.
  • Must work as a member of a location team.
  • A neat, professional appearance and a good driving record are required.
  • Ability to speak effectively before contractors or employees of the organization.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to organize and manage time effectively and handle difficult situations.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, clear DMV record, physical/functional exam and drug screen.
