The Landman-Negotiator position is crucial for pursuing opportunities to acquire real estate, particularly in the areas of Oil and Gas Mineral interests, Coal, and Real Property. This role requires a proactive approach to negotiating agreements and building relationships with landowners in the community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate negotiations and a proven record of success in sales, preferably within the real estate sector. In this role, the Landman-Negotiator will be responsible for drafting and making redlines to various agreements, including surface use agreements, rights-of-way, easements, and other contracts necessary for conducting oil and gas operations. The candidate will utilize their experience with the development of oil and gas in the Utica Shale to identify ideal properties for acquisition and ensure that all transactions are processed and closed in a timely manner. Additionally, the Landman-Negotiator will serve as a liaison between the company and landowners, effectively communicating any issues related to title and contractual disputes to the team and assisting in their resolution. This position is full-time and requires a commitment to excellence in all aspects of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Pursues opportunities to acquire real estate, including Oil and Gas Mineral interests, Oil and Gas Leases, Coal, or Real Property.
  • Negotiates agreements for the acquisition of Oil and Gas Mineral interests, Coal, or Real Property.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with landowners in the community.
  • Secures rights to develop oil and gas rights in support of the exploration and development of hydrocarbons.
  • Drafts and/or makes redlines to surface use agreements, rights-of-way, easements, and other surface contracts required to conduct oil and gas operations.
  • Utilizes experience with the development of oil and gas in the Utica Shale to identify ideal properties for acquisition.
  • Ensures that transactions are processed and closed in a timely manner.
  • Serves as a liaison between the company and landowners.
  • Communicates issues involving title and contractual disputes to the team and assists in resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous negotiating experience
  • Previous in-depth landman or title work in oil and gas in the Utica Shale
  • Knowledge of how to pull information out of court records
  • Knowledge of how to pull together legal documents into a report
  • Proven record of success in sales, preferably real estate.
