About the position

The Real Estate Asset Manager is responsible for providing technical assistance, research, analysis, and guidance on City-owned real estate used in City operations. This role involves negotiating transactions, preparing leases, amendments, renewals, and purchase contracts, as well as managing and monitoring the City's risk management programs for property insurance coverage. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective management of real estate assets.

Responsibilities

  • Researching, compiling, and analyzing real estate data from multiple sources to determine current market rent or value.
  • Developing due diligence information and obtaining quotes and reports for services such as appraisal and environmental investigation.
  • Negotiating lease, purchase, and contract terms that meet departmental goals.
  • Managing and administering leases to ensure tenant compliance and acting as a liaison between the City and landlords/tenants.
  • Responding effectively to requests for information and resolving issues and complaints promptly.
  • Managing and coordinating multiple projects with changing conditions to ensure timely completion.
  • Preparing and monitoring legislation, contracts, leases, and requests for proposals related to real estate management.
  • Overseeing lease contract administration to ensure compliance with terms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in real estate management, acquisition, appraisal, or redevelopment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate or Appraisal or a combination thereof.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Significant experience with research of county auditor and recorder databases, and commercial listing and data services.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
