About the position

The Real Estate Financial Controller position in Los Angeles, CA, is a full-time role that requires effective management of all accounting processes and procedures within the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the analysis, journalizing, posting, summarizing, adjusting, correcting, organizing, closing, and finalizing of financial data. This role encompasses the management of all bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliation processes. The Financial Controller will also coordinate and prepare financial statements for all entities and oversee regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In addition to financial management, the Financial Controller will manage human resources, payroll, and related taxes, implement a corporate budget, and manage expenses. The role requires overseeing and managing all banking relationships and handling all state and city entity filings, including annual LLC taxes. The Financial Controller will also be responsible for managing legal accountings and coordinating with relevant third parties, as well as managing insurance payments, claims, audits, and mortgages. Furthermore, the position involves the management and coordination of income, property, and other taxes with accountants, attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals. This position is critical to the financial health of the organization and requires a strategic-minded individual who can understand and contribute to all aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of accountability and ownership, be coachable and approachable, and have the ability to solve complex challenges with rational and balanced outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Effective management of all accounting processes and procedures.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate the analyzing, journalizing, posting, summarizing, adjusting, correcting, organizing, closing, and finalizing of financial data.
  • Responsible for all bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate and prepare financial statements for all entities.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting including compliance.
  • Manage HR, Payroll, and related taxes.
  • Implement a corporate budget.
  • Manage expenses.
  • Oversee and manage all banking relationships.
  • Handle all state and city entity filings including annual LLC taxes.
  • Management of legal accountings and coordination with relevant third parties.
  • Management of insurance payments, insurance claims, audits, and mortgages.
  • Management and coordination of income, property, and other taxes with accountants, attorneys, CPAs, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance.
  • 5+ Years of relevant Controller experience.
  • Extensive experience with Quickbooks.
  • Excellent communication and professional demeanor.
  • High work ethic, honest, trustworthy, high integrity, strategic-minded with the ability to understand and contribute to all aspects of the business.
  • The ability to solve complex challenges/problems with a rational, reasonable, and balanced outcome.
