About the position

Harvey & Battey, P.A. is a full-service law firm with a dedicated real estate department that serves both residential and commercial buyers and sellers, as well as lending institutions. As part of our expansion, we are excited to announce the opening of a new office in the Bluffton/Okatie area, and we are seeking a full-time Real Estate Legal Paralegal to join our team. This position is crucial for ensuring smooth real estate transactions and providing exceptional service to our clients. The Real Estate Legal Paralegal will play a vital role in client management and will be responsible for processing and preparing real estate closings for buyers and sellers. This includes engaging with real estate agents and clients to prepare for closings, working closely with lending institutions to complete closing packages, and ensuring that all necessary loan documents are completed and mailed after closing. The paralegal will also prepare real estate closing files for document execution by attorneys and clients, and will be the primary point of communication with clients, lenders, realtors, and service providers, whether in person, by telephone, or via email. In addition to these responsibilities, the paralegal will maintain both paper and electronic legal files, organize and file documents, and manage document deliveries while tracking final executed documents. The role may also involve assisting with overflow work and other projects as needed, making it a dynamic and engaging position within our firm.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging with real estate agents and clients to prepare for real estate closings.
  • Working with lending institutions to complete closing packages and loan documents after closing.
  • Mailing necessary payoffs and closing documents.
  • Preparing real estate closing files for document execution by attorneys and clients.
  • Communicating with clients, lenders, Realtors, and service providers in person, by telephone, and by email.
  • Maintaining legal files (both paper and electronic) and organizing documents.
  • Printing, scanning, and photocopying legal documents.
  • Managing document deliveries and tracking final executed documents.
  • Assisting with overflow work and other projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have previous experience as a real estate paralegal.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including WORD and Outlook.
  • Experience in real estate closing software, with Title Express preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate well in a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Accounting skills and experience are a plus.
  • Work experience with Title Express or SoftPro title and closing software is preferred.
