About the position

The Real Estate Title Paralegal plays a crucial role in supporting the Real Estate and Development Practice Group, as well as other practice groups within the firm that require real estate assistance. This position involves a variety of substantive legal tasks, primarily focused on title-related work. The paralegal will be responsible for conducting comprehensive title searches and updates, issuing detailed reports, and preparing title commitments and proforma policies. Additionally, the role includes drafting preliminary versions of conveyancing documents and closing documents, such as settlement statements and real estate transfer tax forms, which will be reviewed by an attorney. The paralegal will also handle other assigned tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the firm’s real estate services. To excel in this position, the candidate must possess a strong understanding of New Hampshire Title Examination Standards, and familiarity with Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association standards is considered a plus. The role demands excellent verbal and written communication skills, a professional demeanor, and a positive attitude, all while adhering to high ethical standards. Attention to detail is paramount, as is the ability to prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Perform full title searches and title updates.
  • Issue title reports and commitments.
  • Prepare proforma policies and preliminary drafts of conveyancing documents.
  • Draft closing documents, including settlement statements and real estate transfer tax forms, for attorney review.
  • Assist with other real estate-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Real Estate Paralegal, strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite and related legal programs.
  • 5+ years of title experience, paralegal certification, and producer title license, strongly preferred.
  • Continuing legal education is expected.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with NH Title Examination Standards.
  • Knowledge of MA REBA / Real Estate Bar Association standards.
