About the position

Reality Labs (RL) is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge hardware and software that fundamentally transforms the way people work, play, and connect. The RL Digital Content Accounting team plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial accounting for media and experiences created for our products and services, including virtual reality games, videos, and immersive content. As an Accounting Manager, you will be a vital member of this high-performing team, ensuring the timely and accurate recording and reporting of digital products in accordance with US GAAP, while also supporting key business initiatives. In this fast-paced environment, you will leverage your exceptional project management, communication, and collaboration skills to problem-solve and provide guidance to cross-functional teams. Your role will involve upholding the highest standards of financial reporting in a rapidly growing organization. You will be expected to think independently, embrace complexity, and drive scalable solutions that align with the company's goals. As the primary accounting contact for first-party studios, you will collaborate closely with business partners to ensure that appropriate accounting processes are enabled. You will lead the go-to-market accounting efforts, ensuring that the business is supported with internal roadmaps and business goals. Your collaboration with Finance, Operations, and Business Development teams will be essential in understanding business models and accurately accounting for digital products. You will also establish and maintain a timely and scalable month-end close process for digital content, review revenue contracts for compliance with GAAP (ASC 606), and drive process improvements by identifying opportunities for growth and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary accounting contact for first party studios, collaborating with business partners to ensure appropriate accounting processes are enabled.
  • Lead go-to-market accounting efforts, supporting the business with internal roadmap and business goals.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Business Development teams to understand business models and accurately account for digital products.
  • Establish and maintain an accurate, timely, and scalable month-end close process for digital content.
  • Review revenue contracts to ensure compliance with GAAP (ASC 606) and internal policies.
  • Drive process improvements by proactively identifying opportunities and partnering with cross-functional process owners, including Engineering, to build and implement solutions for business growth and scalability.
  • Assist in systems testing for any new product launches and other business initiatives.
  • Partner closely with internal and external auditors on satisfactory completion of all audit requests, including SOX compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting packages to management.
  • Handle other ad-hoc projects as needed.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficient with ASC 606 and providing accounting guidance.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as financial reporting and analysis.
  • Effective understanding of the Digital Content industry (gaming, entertainment, and other software products).
  • Highly collaborative temperament with proven communication skills and demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in optimizing or redesigning existing processes resulting from business needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years finance and accounting experience in the Digital Content space.
  • MBA/CPA preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP and Essbase.
