The Realty Specialist (Infrastructure Projects) position at the Department of Energy's Desert Southwest Region focuses on supporting the development of transmission infrastructure projects. The role involves administering and executing programs to acquire and manage land and land rights, serving as a subject matter expert and adviser in these areas. The position requires physical presence in Phoenix, AZ, and involves significant interaction with various land management agencies and private landowners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in managing rights-of-way acquisition, including survey standards and damages.
  • Conduct land appraisals and cost comparison data collection for establishing land values.
  • Investigate and initiate remedial actions for encroachments or alignment change actions on existing facilities.
  • Serve as a liaison and technical expert in land activities dealing with private landowners and various government agencies.
  • Determine effective strategies and procedural requirements necessary to obtain required interests and/or rights-of-way.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service.
  • Knowledge of land acquisition methods, procedures, and policies of the Federal government.
  • Technical expertise in real estate terminology, principles, procedures, and various types of land conveyance documents.
  • Familiarity with Federal laws, rules, regulations, and practices related to property management and real estate laws.
  • Experience in project management practices, problem solving, and effective communication.
