About the position

The Realty Specialist position at the U.S. Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) involves managing land acquisition projects and providing technical guidance to regional realty specialists. The role requires liaising with federal land management agencies and negotiating Right-of-Way Agreements with Indian Tribes. The specialist will work closely with the Lands Manager to prioritize tasks and oversee land acquisition teams, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and effective project execution.

Responsibilities

• Manage WAPA land acquisition projects and supporting activities in consultation with the Lands Manager.
• Serve as a technical lead for Regional Realty Specialists and land acquisition teams.
• Liaise with federal land management agencies such as BLM, Forest Service, and National Park Service.
• Negotiate Right-of-Way Agreements with Indian Tribes and coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
• Determine effective strategies and procedural requirements for obtaining necessary rights-of-way.
• Monitor and adjust tasks on a priority basis in collaboration with the Lands Manager.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level in federal service.
• Experience in land acquisition methods, procedures, and policies of the Federal Government.
• Knowledge of real estate terminology, principles, and various types of land conveyance documents.
• Familiarity with Federal laws and regulations pertaining to land management and acquisition.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970.
• Knowledge of Bureau of Land Management and US Forest Service regulations.
