About the position

The Reasonable Accommodation Specialist position within the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is responsible for providing expert guidance and direction on the Reasonable Accommodation program across the agency. This role involves advising employees, applicants, and management on policies and regulations related to reasonable accommodations, ensuring compliance with equal employment opportunity standards, and facilitating effective solutions to accommodation requests.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert analysis and interpretation of internal policy and guidelines for reasonable accommodations.
  • Advise employees, applicants, human resources specialists, supervisors, and managers on reasonable accommodation issues.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate responses to management requests regarding reasonable accommodation regulations and policies.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on complex reasonable accommodation issues and identify barriers and resolutions.
  • Review and evaluate accommodation requests from employees and collaborate with them and managers to implement effective accommodations.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, applying Federal HR concepts and practices related to reasonable accommodations.
  • Experience providing HR advisory and technical services on organizational functions related to reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to resolve complex cases and issues related to reasonable accommodations.
