About the position
The Receiver position at Halperns involves receiving goods from delivery trucks, ensuring proper identification and validation of items, and transferring them to designated areas. This role is crucial in maintaining inventory control and ensuring the quality of products received, particularly in the meat and seafood specialty industry.
Responsibilities
- Receives goods onto dock from delivery trucks and transfers to the receiving area.
- Checks goods received against bills of lading or purchase orders.
- Checks goods for damage and expiration dates.
- Identifies and accounts for all histamine products (seafood only).
- Sorts, counts, and checks received items.
- Maintains required clerical records and completes housekeeping activities.
- Operates warehouse equipment as needed to move goods to storage areas and places in designated locations.
- Identifies damaged packaging and/or possible cross contaminated products.
- Performs returns.
- Maintains and rotates cooler and freezer (USDA only).
- Inventory control (USDA only).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
- Must be able to work independently or within a team environment.
- Ability to operate powered industrial vehicle (PIV).
