About the position

The Recertification Specialist at Five T Management Service Provider Inc. is responsible for managing the recertification process for residents at assigned properties, ensuring compliance with the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) regulations. This role involves handling a caseload of residents, conducting eligibility assessments, and maintaining accurate records while educating residents about program requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Complete annual re-examinations within required timelines according to CHA and Habitat procedures.
  • Perform interim re-examinations and manage unit transfers as needed.
  • Conduct applicant and participant briefings and interviews, ensuring recertification forms are completed accurately.
  • Determine residents' rent in accordance with HUD/CHA policies.
  • Educate participants on program requirements and family responsibilities.
  • Process all transactions in the designated systems.
  • Securely maintain resident files following CHA's information security policies.
  • Assist with rent collection and lease enforcement as necessary.
  • Support drafting of general notices to residents.
  • Collaborate with the Community Manager or Assistant Manager to develop and implement site goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of HUD Public/Senior Housing policies and procedures is preferred.
  • Tax credit certification and familiarity with project-based subsidy programs are preferred.
  • Knowledge of Yardi Systems is an advantage.
  • IL Leasing License or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire.
  • Public Housing Rent Calculation/RIM and LIHTC Training and Certification, or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong ability to prepare clear, concise, and well-structured written documents, including reports, letters, and memoranda.
  • Adaptable and capable of working independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to perform with high accuracy in a fast paced office environment with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
