About the position

The Receiver at Longwood Gardens plays a vital role in the culinary operations by managing the receipt of all incoming goods and supplies. This position ensures quality, consistency, and freshness in the kitchen by verifying deliveries, maintaining inventory accuracy, and organizing products effectively. The Receiver collaborates with kitchen staff and vendors to streamline operations and adheres to health and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Receive all incoming food, beverage, and supply deliveries for the production kitchen.
  • Inspect goods for quality, accuracy, and condition, ensuring compliance with Longwood Gardens' standards.
  • Reject and document any damaged or unsatisfactory products as per established procedures.
  • Accurately log incoming goods and manage inventory using tracking systems.
  • Rotate stock and manage first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles to maintain product freshness.
  • Perform regular inventory counts to support inventory accuracy and prevent stock shortages.
  • Organize and store products efficiently, keeping storage areas clean, safe, and compliant with health regulations.
  • Ensure all food safety and handling practices align with FDA and local health department standards.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff and vendors to streamline deliveries and ensure timely product availability.
  • Communicate with the culinary team on inventory levels, stock needs, and any issues related to deliveries.
  • Report any discrepancies, shortages, or damaged items to the Culinary Management team promptly.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, ensuring safe handling and storage of all products.
  • Maintain organized records of deliveries, invoices, and inventory reports as required by company policy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in culinary, food service, or inventory management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in inventory management.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to inspect and assess product quality accurately.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items, with physical stamina for tasks such as unloading trucks and organizing stock.
