The Records and Warrant Clerk position is designed to support law enforcement by efficiently processing arrest warrants, preparing court documents, and managing GCIC information. The role requires independent thinking within established guidelines and contributes to the maintenance and dissemination of department records.

  • Answers calls and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
  • Performs technical and customer service duties in the maintenance of department files and records.
  • Receives payments for citations, background checks, and expungements.
  • Processes open record requests in compliance with Georgia Open Records Act requirements; attends related training as required.
  • Receives and distributes subpoenas.
  • Provides customers with incident and accident reports; receives payments.
  • Completes and balances a ledger of monies received; closes out drawers and prepares deposits.
  • Processes releases for vehicle impounds.
  • Verifies wanted person entries in the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) database.
  • Enters traffic citations and arrest booking reports.
  • Maintains false alarm reports and prepares related invoices.
  • Issues golf cart permits.
  • Assists in monitoring and entering data into the GCIC database.
  • Processes all GCIC validations monthly.
  • Prepares arrestee profile sheets for Municipal Court.
  • Processes incoming mail.
  • Prepares and maintains a wide variety of departmental records and reports in compliance with departmental and legal policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and files thorough written case reports.
  • Gives advice on laws, ordinances, and general information to the public; assists citizens in need.
  • Works closely with municipal court and city probation personnel.
  • Acts as the department's liaison with surrounding correctional facilities.
  • Participates in departmental training programs.
  • Participates in community relations projects as required.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in clerical or administrative support roles, preferably in a law enforcement or legal environment.
  • Knowledge of Georgia Open Records Act and GCIC procedures.
  • Experience with customer service in a public-facing role.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and court procedures.
