The Records Specialist 1 position at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) Greene involves maintaining accurate and up-to-date master files for incarcerated individuals. This role is crucial in supporting the Department of Corrections' mission to enhance public safety through effective housing and rehabilitation of inmates. The specialist will analyze court documents, manage inmate records, and ensure compliance with legal requirements for inmate release.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date DC-15 master files.
- Analyze court documents to create or revise sentence structures and calculations.
- Review time periods for commitment credit to determine legal applicability.
- Revise sentence calculations based on changes from the court or Probation and Parole Board.
- Update and review inmate criminal histories and conduct interviews with inmates.
- Communicate with various criminal justice agencies regarding inmates.
- Scrutinize inmate cases prior to release to ensure legality and compliance with requirements.
- Register and fingerprint sex offenders under Megan's Law and fingerprint parole violators.
Requirements
- Two years of clerical or correctional custodial experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Benefits
