About the position

The Records Technician position at the Florida Department of Education is responsible for processing fingerprint correspondence and certification fees, ensuring accurate data entry into the Bureau of Educator Certification database. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of educator certification processes, which support the academic achievement of students by ensuring that educators are qualified. The position requires teamwork, productivity under tight deadlines, and effective communication with bureau staff.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming fingerprint correspondence and certification fees.
• Enter fingerprint status in the database and verify processing fees.
• Review fingerprint correspondences and assign appropriate codes.
• Scan and index fingerprint documents into the database and imaging system.
• Verify quality and accuracy of imaged documents, deleting substandard images as needed.
• Track unreadable fingerprint results and draft correspondence to notify applicants.
• Maintain records of fingerprint cards and applications received.
• Maintain an organized workspace and work independently in a fast-paced team environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technology and computer experience.
• MS Office experience.
